Policy Owner:
Redemption in the Law Legal Foundation

1. Purpose

Redemption in the Law Legal Foundation is committed to protecting the dignity, safety, wellbeing, and rights of individuals who engage with our organisation.

Our work may involve individuals affected by gender-based violence, cyberbullying, online harassment, online threats, technology-facilitated abuse, and other forms of harm. We recognise that individuals experiencing such circumstances may be particularly vulnerable and may require additional protection.

This Safeguarding Policy establishes our commitment to preventing abuse, exploitation, harassment, discrimination, and other forms of harm within our activities and interactions.

2. Our Safeguarding Principles

Redemption in the Law is guided by the following principles:

  • Safety: The safety and wellbeing of individuals are central to our work.
  • Dignity: Everyone should be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Do No Harm: Our activities should not expose individuals to additional risks.
  • Confidentiality: Personal information will be handled responsibly and only shared where appropriate and lawful.
  • Consent: We seek informed consent before collecting, using, or publishing personal information wherever appropriate.
  • Non-discrimination: We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment.
  • Survivor-centred practice: We seek to respect the choices, dignity, autonomy, and circumstances of individuals affected by violence or abuse.
  • Accountability: Concerns about safeguarding will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

  • Threats
  • Unauthorised disclosure of personal information
  • Technology-facilitated abuse

6. Reporting a Safeguarding Concern

Anyone who has a safeguarding concern relating to Redemption in the Law may contact us through our official communication channels.

Reports will be treated seriously and, where appropriate, handled confidentially.

Where there is an immediate threat to life or safety, individuals should contact the appropriate emergency services rather than relying on Redemption in the Law’s website or communication channels.

7. Confidentiality and Information Sharing

Information concerning safeguarding concerns will be handled carefully and shared only with individuals who have a legitimate need to know, subject to applicable legal and safeguarding obligations.

Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where disclosure is required by law or necessary to address a serious and imminent risk of harm.

8. Training and Awareness

Individuals working or volunteering with Redemption in the Law may be required to undertake appropriate safeguarding training depending on their role and level of contact with vulnerable individuals.

9. Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated when necessary to reflect organisational practice, applicable legal requirements, and safeguarding standards.
